Here we are at the end of our current seasons, 50% of the way through the Star Trek franchise.

Here we are at the end of our current seasons, 50% of the way through the Star Trek franchise. It’s only taken four years, 11 months, and eight days to get this far! 367 episodes down, and 373 left to go (including the 15 episodes of Star Trek: Discovery). Along the way we’ve also watched seven films and 13 fan film episodes.

The upcoming seasons of VOY and DS9 aired between August 1995-June 1996. I had just graduated from college, had an off year before entering law school, and was living in a room in Princeton, New Jersey, with no television. I will be watching these episodes for the first time.

Star Trek: First Contact was released in November 1996, so we will watch it in tandem with the 1996-1997 seasons.

I welcome your thoughts about this endeavor! I’m prepared to keep plugging away. I want to know what happens next.

In the last five years, Google+ has turned into more of a hiding place than a platform, but it still provides convenient infrastructure. Making a dedicated website and migrating to it would be more trouble! But will Google+ be around long enough for us to finish? An estimated completion date for Star Trek: Enterprise might be February, 2023.

I’m still committed to VOY and DS9 in release order, followed by ENT and DIS, but it is a slog getting through two 26-episode seasons without a break. My current thought is to schedule a week break at each quarter season, and to take stock of favorites at the half, rather than waiting all the way to the end. There will probably be additional pauses, as always, for holidays, vacations, and other life interruptions.

Thank you for coming along for any part of this 10(?)-year mission, especially the amazing and stalwart Randi Cohen. I appreciate your plusses and participation, however regular or irregular. This is a good time to pick up DS9, at the beginning of fourth season, with the imminent arrival of Worf. And Voyager’s second season can only get better!

Let’s start the new seasons a week from tomorrow, on Monday, May 21.

Thank you for your valiant efforts, Kevin. This re-watch has been my one consistent extracurricular activity beyond family and business… it’s been a really nice break that can accommodate my odd hours of being available for human interaction. 🙂 So I very much appreciate your keeping it going.

Yes, we are quite hidden here on Google Plus! I’m inclined to say whatever works for you is great, Kev. Would a blog type format be better or worse in terms of user friendliness? Also it would be a shame to lose our content if Google + goes under. That’s a sad thought. Whatever schedule you think will maintain your sanity is fine by me.

    OMG, 5 years!!!! Unbelievable.

My one thought is I’d like to include The Orville in our re-watch. I am a huge fan and I think it is very much in the spirit of Star Trek (much more so than the titular new series).

I’m open to The Orville, although if we stick to release order, it will be some time in coming!

When I think of creating a site, I think of something similar to http://www.theviewscreen.com/, which I think was created using WordPress. It could be more user friendly, by accommodating things like RSS feeds, although I think it would be harder to update.

True… but it will be something to look forward to! It would be depressing to end with the current Star Trek series. I really like the viewscreen website… it seems easier as far as finding past reviews. But whatever is easiest for you to maintain, Kevin, seems best to me.

I could create an index page with links and pin it to the top of the community. Hmm.

I think that might make it more user friendly for anyone wanting to join in.
