Have I mentioned I’m a fan of DS9? These two are easy:

“Duet.” Great episode. Best of the season.

“Past Prologue.” With Garak the Tailor and Kira’s former revolutionary comrade.

There are several candidates for the next two. I choose:

“Battle Lines.” H’m. Another one with great Kira scenes.

“Captive Pursuit.” O’Brien befriends an alien fugitive gladiator! Tosk is the best alien visitor except for the Cardassians.

Honorable mentions: “A Man Alone,” “Babel,” “Dax,” “The Nagus.”

Emissary was super-awesome. Great set-up and so much happens! My second favorite episode was “Duet”… because what’s not to like? (except the pat ending).

Other standout episodes: A Man Alone, The Passenger, Vortex, Battle Lines, and In the Hands of the Prophets. The Nagus was also pretty good.

Hard to pick 2 out of those 4… but if I had to, I’d go with Vortex and Battle Lines. Because they are not only great stories with pathos and resonance but have important development of major characters. In the Hands of the Prophets has these things as well but also features Keiko… she is not my favorite, although I want to like her in principle. I think it’s because she doesn’t seem to think much about her actions. Dax also seems like this to me. Not sure if it is the acting choices or what, that give me this impression.
