This is hard.  I’m going to sleep on it.

Haven, because characterization and Deanna’s mom is annoying but awesome (awesome-noying?).

    Heart of glory because Klingons.

Conspiracy because of gratuitous worm-eating and geri-evil-superman and briefly a badass woman captain.

Coming of age because I like stories about schools, exams, and weird hazing rituals, and I wish the officers were actually badass enough to pass that kind of test.

Symbiosis because it was pretty bad but at least making some kind of attempt to be about something important.

Sarah MacMillan  and I have had this long-running conversation about how the characters of Deanna and Lwaxana Troi needed to be merged into a single character named Lwaxana Troi.  She could appear more often as the ambassador the Enterprise is ferrying about than she currently does in the series, and any time Betazoid telepathy would break the plot she could be conveniently off the ship.

Makes sense.  I mean, the busybodying that Deanna is constantly doing is weird given her character overall as someone who is actually conscious of social norms, whereas for Lwaxana this would be completely in character, so much so that I would be much more likely to take it as an alien trait and not find it annoying.  Or at least, annoying in an understandable way, or something.

    Best 5, for me, alphabetically:

    “11001001”

    “Datalore”

    “Encounter at Farpoint”

    “Heart of Glory”

“Where No One Has Gone Before”

Honorable mentions: “Coming of Age,” “We’ll Always Have Paris.”
