the apple (for the smug way the men laugh about women rediscovering childbirth)

gamesters of triskelion (for uhura getting raped and nobody seeming to notice)

the omega glory (for the last 20 minutes)

a private little war (for justification of the arms race… sorry kev!)

the immunity syndrome (for being kind of boring)

catspaw (for nothing of larger interest really happening)

Worst of the bunch is “The Apple” for me, for sure. Made me mad. Some of the rest seem to keep wanting to revise themselves upward in my mind. I want to remember “The Gamesters of Triskelion” and “Wolf in the Fold” as being better than they probably were. I remember “Who Mourns for Adonais?” as being one of the best episodes now, despite the fact that when I watched it, I scored it 2.5, the same as “Catspaw.”

To round it out at three, I think my other two least favorite episodes were “Bread and Circuses” and “The Omega Glory.”  I definitely soured on the episodes at the end of the season (although I did like the season finale, “Assignment: Earth”). This is unlike the experience with Season One which ended really strong with “Space Seed,” “This Side of Paradise,” “Errand of Mercy,” and “City on the Edge of Forever.” Hopefully my perceptions weren’t just warped by fatigue!

Counting down to my least favorite:

    3) “The Immunity Syndrome” – I debated going with Catspaw here, but I gave Immunity Syndrome the edge simply because I am really struggling to even remember anything about it. So I’m thinking it must have been pretty boring. I think this was the one with the giant space amoeba?

    2) “The Apple” – The Star Trek writers back then sure were obsessed with Garden of Eden parables. Seems like they tried to cram them in wherever they could.

    1) “The Omega Glory” – Holy WOW did this episode go off the rails in the last 20 minutes or so. And it actually started off somewhat interesting, as I recall.
