The first season of <em>Star Trek<\/em>, 1966-1967, coincided with my father&#8217;s senior year of college. He majored in mechanical and aerospace engineering at Princeton University, which didn&#8217;t admit women until the 1968-1969 school year, coinciding with the third and final\u00a0season of <em>Star Trek<\/em>. I came along five years later, after he got his master&#8217;s degree and moved to Cincinnati.
