Kevin linked me here from the comments section on one of the <a href=\"http:\/\/viewscreen.com\">viewscreen.com<\/a> TOS rewatch posts, so I thought I&#8217;d check it out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A little background on my ST fandom: My father was 9 when Star Trek premiered in &#8217;66, and he pretty much became an instant fan for life. As a kid, my greatest exposure to Trek was through the movies; my siblings and I would watch our VHS copies of II through VI over and over.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Every now and then we would watch a TOS ep with my dad, but as a kid I didn&#8217;t think they were as much fun as the movies. Thus there were only a handful of TOS episodes that stuck with me into adulthood (Trouble With Tribbles, Devil in the Dark).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I was a big fan of TNG as a kid, but I was fairly young for the early seasons and so I don&#8217;t remember a lot of details. Again, there are really just a smattering of episodes that stand out in my mind, mostly from the later seasons (Yesterday&#8217;s Enterprise, Ship in a Bottle, All Good Things).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>DS9 premiered right after I turned 11. I eagerly tuned in to watch the first episode&#8230;.and was immediately turned off to the show after the scene where it is revealed that Sisko hates Picard. To my little pre-teen brain, Picard was the BOMB, so my thought was, if you don&#8217;t have time for Picard, I don&#8217;t have time for you. I never really watched DS9 after that, although many of my friends were into it. Voyager and Enterprise likewise mostly slipped by me, unwatched.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So, a year or two ago I decided to watch&#8230;.everything. It&#8217;s been slow going (although I anticipate picking up the pace here soon), and right now I&#8217;m about 5 or 6 episodes into season 3 of TOS. It&#8217;s been a revelation&#8230;.my kid self was turned off by the production value, but I&#8217;ve been very impressed with the series watching it now as an adult. I&#8217;m excited to watch TNG through, as I really consider that &#8220;my&#8221; Trek, and yet there&#8217;s so much of it I haven&#8217;t seen. I&#8217;m also excited to go back and give DS9 a fair shake, as many of my friends tell me it is the best Trek. I&#8217;m doing release order so I plan on alternating episodes of TNG and DS9 when I get to that point. I&#8217;ve also been following various rewatches as I go (AV Club, Viewscreen, Tor.com, and now Relive the Majesty!).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sorry, that was longer than I expected.
