Picard meets Vash, a woman and archaeologist who is searching for the Tox Uthat, a very dangerous weapon described in legend (whose legends?). Two aliens arrive and tell Picard the Tox Uthat is from the future and they are a security team sent back in time to retrieve it. And the story continues from there (unfortunately).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Thoughts:<\/strong> Sorry, Vash fans (according to Memory Alpha, Vash will become a recurring character in TNG and DS9), I don&#8217;t care for this episode. &#8220;Captain&#8217;s Holiday&#8221; declares time and again that it has no intention of being taken seriously, so I won\u2019t.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It\u2019s a good thing. If I did, I\u2019d have to knock it for being sexist, racist (that Ferengi mask looks a lot like a racial caricature, no? Of the noxious simpering Asian stereotype?), and relentlessly stupid. Worse, director Chip Chalmers allows Jonathan Frakes to smirk incessantly. I don\u2019t know which is worse: watching Frakes smirk, or the joyless, forced, and unconvincing romance between Picard and Vash.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">1 out of 5 satchels of forgotten camping gear.
