A smuggled message alerts Major Kira that a Bajoran resistance leader, thought to be dead, is alive and imprisoned in a labor camp on Cardassia IV. Meanwhile, a Bajoran terrorist group called The Circle begins operations on the station, and Jake schedules a date.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Thoughts:<\/strong> DS9 is back, it\u2019s bigger (expanded promenade sets!), and ready to go with an episode bursting with guest stars, subplots, and the best outdoor prison escape scene affordable on a TV budget. I like the small bits, like Dax acting as Sisko\u2019s counselor, with authority and experience as befits a Trill. DS9 is smart to lead with a Kira-centered episode returning to the theme of the Bajoran-Cardassian conflict.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The genre of the episode is more political soap opera-drama than anything close to Original Trek, but since it\u2019s good, I\u2019ll take it. Frank Langella as Minister Jaro is a great actor who I saw once in a Noel Coward play on Broadway. I look forward to part two.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">One of the things that struck me is Bashir\u2019s use of point to point beaming within the station. Is that going to be a thing?
