    My picks:

    1. “Yesteryear” This sensitive episode, written by D.C. Fontana, expands our knowledge of Vulcan and Mr. Spock, while addressing a subject no less Earth-shattering than the death of a pet. Simply the best.

    2. “Mudd’s Passion” This, however, might be my favorite. It’s the funniest episode, makes the best use of Harry Mudd ever, and is the first episode centered on Nurse Chapel since “What Are Little Girls Made Of?” The homoeroticism between Kirk and Spock is the cherry on top of an episode I’m so glad I didn’t miss.

    3. “The Terratin Incident” This was so creative, I want to see it made as a live action episode (or film!).

    4. “The Survivor” I almost went for “Tribbles” here, but this strong episode with its sensitive interspecies love story stands out most in my memory.

Honorable mentions (alphabetized): “More Tribbles, More Troubles,” “The Magicks of Megas-Tu,” “The Pirates of Orion,” and “The Slaver Weapon.”

hands down yesteryear was my favorite.

I also enjoyed the lorelei signal for finally allowing female crewmembers to do something. I liked the terratin incident and the ambergris element because it was fun to see crewmembers in these fundamentally weird situations. and the slaver weapon was just a neat self contained old fashioned sci fi story.

others were good too but those were the ones that made the biggest impression on me.

I finally finished the Animated Series! Here are my top 4:

    1) “The Counter-Clock Incident” – I kept debating back and forth between this and Yesteryear for # 1, but despite the physics of the “reverse universe” being kind of wonky, I loved the idea behind this episode and thought it was a great send-off. Plus baby Uhura, Kirk, and Sulu are super cute.

    2) “Yesteryear”

    3) “The Eye of the Beholder” – I loved those slug aliens :D.

    4) “More Tribbles, More Troubles”

Honorable mentions: “The Lorelei Signal”, “The Terratin Incident”, “The Practical Joker”, “The Slaver Weapon”, “Bem”.

“The Practical Joker” is definitely my guilty pleasure…I acknowledge that it is patently ridiculous but I had fun with it. Plus it was fun to see the first incarnation of the Holodeck. From reading others’ reviews (Viewscreen in particular), apparently everyone hates “Holodeck malfunctions” episodes, but I seem to remember actually liking a lot of those episodes of TNG when I was a kid. I guess we’ll see if that’s still the case when I start up my TNG rewatch here shortly.

There should be more love for Mudd’s Passion! I look forward to your input on TNG.
