I grew up as a HUGE fan of “Classic” Star Trek (TOS) in syndication in the 1970s and loved its positive future for humanity. TOS is really still my favorite Trek due to its sense of adventure and freshness, as well as the great Kirk-Spock-McCoy interplay. And I like the animated series based on Classic ST also.

I had seen most episodes of TOS repeatedly throughout the years, but only saw the whole series again about 6 years ago when I bought the remastered DVDs, so I was thrilled with their much improved special effects and great picture quality. I was accustomed to seeing the show with lots of scratches and colors faded badly, but no more!!

Concerning the endless debate about which is best, Classic ST or Next Generation, I think each has its pros and cons, and each did some excellent episodes, some good ones, some mediocre, and some poor. I really find the two series to be more similar than different.

Anyway, since I’m still a big fan of “Classic” Star Trek I’m very glad that I stumbled across this community on Google +.

Welcome! I would say that 1st season TOS was pretty consistent for cranking out 29 episodes in a year while developing the series on the fly. We’ll see what happens as we get along…

Thanks for the welcome! Yes, the first season was consistently good quality, the notable exception being “The Alternative Factor.” And even there it was mainly because their original guest star backed out on them at the last minute. I’m gonna dig out my “classic” Star Trek DVDs today and get ready to watch the second season again. Phasers on stun!!
